Rick Hall

After being excommunicated from the Church in 2012, Rick Hall began an arduous journey back to full fellowship by employing the blessing of the Atonement in his life. Rick has learned that the Atonement is not just a vehicle for the forgiveness of sins, but it helps him to endure pain and injustices and to heal his wounded soul. Rick has been married to his wife, Julie, for 35 years, and he is grateful that God led them to each other. Knowing this gave added hope during the painful period of rebuilding their enduring marriage. Rick is grateful for Julie's patience, forgiveness, and love. The Halls have two daughters and four grandchildren, and they reside in Utah. Rick prides himself on being a “gardening junkie.”

Rick, Your testimony and your story have been just amazing and very inspiring to me. A lot of times in my life I question myself if I'm going to be strong enough to endure this challenge (same gender atraction). Many times I think of what I will have to face if one day I decide to leave the church. You answered a lot of my prayers. Thank you very much. Your story strengthened me to stay firm in the Gospel. Like you, I already felt the Savior's love telling me I should stay where I am, in the Gospel. Even though I don't undersatand a lot of things yet I'm going to try my very best. Thank you very much my brother for helping me unsderstand what the Lord wants for me. Your story helped to know that I should really love God above all things. Even above the atractions for the same sex that I face. Your love for the Gift of the Holy Ghost inspired me to value it even more. I've never thouught that way. Thank you again. I'm 26 now. You've been an insp

We share a lot of this story. I'm glad that you're in a wonderful chapter of it now, and I hope that it will be a "happily ever after" ending for us both. Thank you for sharing such experiences, as difficult as it surely was.

I so appreciate you sharing your story Rick and the courage and hope you demonstrate that will be a strength to others as well as a guide to those serving others in the church. I love both you and Julie and pray that the comfort of the atonement may be with you both. I hope others who view your story who struggle with similar feelings will find someone they can talk to who will love them no matter what. Love has such great power to heal broken hearts and minds. I am so proud of you!

Lovely story. I teared up. How is your wife handling all of this? How is 'Mark' handling all of this? I find it incredibly powerful and touching that in your time of greatest need, you were excommunicated. That after decades of repressing your needs and lying to your wife, you set out towards hope and found it. And then came sobriety. I pray you can hang on to that sobriety and away from that hope so that you never get excommunicated again.

Rick, thank you for sharing your life story, your testimony, and the important things you have learned in your journey. My story and experience are very similar to yours. I am learning, as you have, that I can get my ssa needs met in appropriate and even very rewarding ways. I too am very grateful for and dependent on the atonement of Jesus Christ. I love you, brother
